Understanding Latin America’s capacity to combat corruption

Join Geert Aalbers, senior partner at specialist risk consultancy Control Risks, and Isabel Costa Carvalho, managing partner of Hogan Lovells São Paulo office, over breakfast to discuss the current state of corruption in Latin America and in particular specific countries’ capacity to combat this issue.

Isabel Costa Carvalho, managing partner of Hogan Lovells São Paulo office, will talk about her experience in leading corruption investigation cases in Brazil and supporting Hogan Lovells' foreign clients in ABC due diligence in investments throughout Latin America.

Geert will present the results of Control Risks and the Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA) latest Capacity to Combat Corruption (CCC) Index. Going beyond perceived levels of corruption in the region, Geert will discuss the CCC Index’s evaluation and rankings of Latin American countries, and how effectively they are able to combat corruption. Countries with a higher score are deemed more likely to see corrupt actors prosecuted and punished.
