Canning House and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Latin America are jointly hosting an 'overview' event looking at politics and trade in Latin America. An extremely diverse region, and far from monolithic, this event will serve largely as an introduction to Latin America, the political milieu, and trade and investment overview. It will also discuss topics such as the challenges for the region after the commodity boom, highlight sectors that are particularly flourishing, and present a case study of political risks in Peru and Venezuela.

The Canning Conference 2017 is taking place on the morning of 28th September. Following the UK’s decision to vote ‘Brexit’ and signal its intention to leave the European Union, this conference will look at any changing dynamic this might result in with its relationship with Latin America. Taking into consideration the UK government’s ‘Canning Agenda’ and any possible necessity to ramp up its engagement with regions such as Latin America following the ‘Brexit’ vote, this year’s conference will also look to other countries around the world, such as China, India and Germany, to see what we can learn from their success in trading and investing in Latin America.

Canning House, in association with the  Sociedad Civil Catalana , is delighted to welcome  Josep Borrell.  Mr. Borrell is a Catalan-born Spanish politician and former President of the European Parliament (2004-07).

Canning House is delighted to welcome two delegates from the FCO's International Leaders programme to discuss the important current day issue of 'The Changing Face of the Media' in Latin America. Graco Perez is a columnist, academic and lecturer on international issues from Honduras.
