Canning House is delighted to welcome Paraguay's Minister of Education and Culture, Dr Enrique Riera Escudero, to give his views on education reforms as well as the current political and economic situation in Paraguay. Dr Riera Escudero, whose extensive experience includes prior positions such as Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Vice Minister of Youth of the MEC, National Deputy, and Mayor of Asunción, as well as serving as President of the Judiciary Council.

Following a 4 year negotiation process, the people of Colombia shocked the world when they rejected the terms of the Peace Accord this October 2nd, by the narrowest of margins (50.2% to 49.8%). Perhaps the most significant- and worrying- lessons of the referendum were the apparent indifference of the Colombian people, given the low margins (50.2% to 49.8%).
